La Familia De Hoy

Hi Everyone today's blog is an important blog to me because as you all know I just welcomed my Baby Girl on Thanksgiving day, stay tuned for a blog on my babies birthday, but getting to Today's blog I am going to share with you  what I think it means to be the “ La Familia de Hoy”. Before I start I would like to let you know this is a compensated campaign held by Johnson & Johnson and Latina Bloggers Connect which I recently joined.

Johnson & Johnson and Univision have join forces to put together a campaign to try to find an authentic, family to be named" La Familia de Hoy" which I think is amazing.  Being  Latina it's great to see amazing Latin families being a part of their children's lives and doing it as a family. Please  visit the La Familia de Hoy Voting Site, and vote for the family you think would represent the campaign the best, and also check out below which family I voted for and what
“LaFamilia de Hoy” means to me.

What I think it means to be "La Familia de Hoy" is to embrace your culture and infusing it in the way you raise your children.  A lot of people from other countries tend to not embrace their cultures and  forget the only way their children will learn is through the family dynamic. Children need to see hard working parents so that they can learn  to work hard for things they want in life. .  My husband teaching children how to play soccer at the local Boys & Girls Club  and having a full time job  and still spending time at home  will show our daughter that all the things she receives is because we worked hard for her as did our parents. This is how I view the "Family of Today."

The family I chose from the three nominees is the Olivera Family.

Soccer is very huge in my household as my husband use to play professionally so naturally I was drawn to this young family. My husband also teaches children how to play soccer and plans on teaching my daughter,  so for me I feel like I can relate to this family.  Milena and Roberto are parents of Ana Luiza, Lucas and Matteo,  and have a  fourth on the way (March 2014).  Milena loves the arts and  Roberto loves soccer, which he also coaches Lucas and Ana Luiza’s soccer team.  Sounds so much like  my husband and I. Being  from a single parent household, I admire this family because I know it's challenge being a working parent.  My husband and I are just beginning our family and I know  its going to be challenging to incorporate my Latin heritage with my husband's Portuguese culture and making sure our daughter knows both sides of her heritages equally. I really admire these families, and wish them all luck, please remember and vote for your favorite family at La Familia de Hoy Voting Site.

Peace & Love

Simply Stylist NYC

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to attend Simply Stylist NYC. My fellow Blogger friend Ada from Gypsyinthecity mentioned this conference to me and I knew I had to attend, especially knowing that once I give birth I will be missing some events. This was a great networking opportunity for those Bloggers looking to expand their name and brand, so make sure to attend the next one. I met with Ada and Hiliana from Hilianadevila at the event.
The first Panel speaker was Lo Bosworth, it was very interesting to see how she has struggled after being on big time TV show like the Hills. There was also a blogger panel featuring some successful bloggers, but my favorite and most inspirational speaker was Mr. Jay Manuel, he was so inspirational and sweet. Overall I enjoyed each panel of experts and loved seeing success stories that inspire me to move forward with my dreams, because anything is possible.
After the panels were over we had the opportunity to shop the designer shopping event. I obviously loved this  part because I get to shop and network with other bloggers and Fashionista's. I met some girls that follow me on instagram so it was great to meet them and just talk fashion. Overall the conference was great, my suggestion is if she have never been to simply stylist, make sure to go to the next and maybe I'll see you there.
For my outfit I wanted to wear something comfortable but still chic. I was obsessed with my hat that I wore at Lucky Fabb and my Poncho from 2 seasons ago at Forever21. Check out my full outfit details below. Thank you To Ada from  Gypsyinthecity  for taking my pictures;)

LuLu's Blogger Fall Fashion Meetup

Hi Ladies & Gents,

If you cant tell by now I am pregnant and literally three days away from my due date. I'm at that point where I just want her here, but before that happens I'm going to try to catch up on my blogging.Eventually I will get back to my regular posting, but for now my priority is my family.

Anyway lets get started with this awesome event I had the pleasure of attending.   As I mentioned in my prior Lucky Fabb post I spent the day with my fellow blogger friend Melissa sweetstylesbymelissa and we both had the opportunity to be invited to a private meetup with Lulu's, at STK in Midtown.  We were lucky enough  to take a peek at their fall collection, which I have to say I'm obsessed with.  I decided to change my outfit from my casual look to more of a party look using the same blazer and obviously a dress from Lulu's.
This was a great event to end Lucky Fabb and mingle with fellow bloggers about the great Fall Fashion finds from Lulu's. I ordered some of the looks I previewed for my postpartum looks for Fall/Winter.
See below my favorite picks from Lulus and outfit details.

Jacket: BCBG

Maternity Shoot/ Surprise Baby Shower ( Photo Credit Pauline Saade)

I previously shared with all of you my intimate maternity shoot, but I'm super excited to share with you guys pictures of my maternity shoot with my husband and dog. I also will share with all of you my Surprise Baby Shower. Hope you guys enjoy the pictures.
Lets start with the maternity shoot. I had a vision from the beginning of  a earthy/nature shoot and knew the person that would make the vision come alive would be Pauline Saade.  I first worked with Pauline on my engagement shoot and fell in love with her work from there. She listened to my vision and brought it to life. Now almost three years later she has done my bridal shower, maternity shoot and recently my baby shower.
Here are some pictures from the shoot. We had a fun time shooting and laughing at ourselves. Pauline chose  a great park for us to take our pictures, she really knew exactly what I wanted and couldn't be happier with the pictures. Here is Pauline's Bio and contact information, you will not be disappointed.

Pauline's Bio
Pauline Saade is an independent photographer/artist based in Jersey City. She was Born in Deir El-Qamar, a village located in the southern part of Lebanon. Upon graduating from Rutgers University, she began an internship at an art gallery in Soho NYC. She later began her travels to Europe which further inspired her creativity and work.

In addition to her concentration in nature photography, Pauline’s own passion for everything that has to do with everyday life led to feature work for  family, events, engagements, baby showers, fashion, food, corporate portraits, fine arts, nature, pets and much more.
She is a hopeless romantic  and passionate to capture every single moment, kiss , tears and joy in your shoot.
Her personal drive and individual technique is revealed in the quality of work you see. She is currently working on several projects which will showcase in NYC in Spring of 2014.

My Surprise baby shower  was exactly that a surprise! My best friends reached out to Pauline to capture the event and she did an amazing job capturing each moment of my special day. My friends and mother did an amazing job with the decor, I loved, loved, loved the Parisian theme, it was so me. I really thought that I would know what day my shower would be, but they totally got me. My friend Benita reached out to my blogger friends Ada from http://gypsyinthecity.com/ and Hiliana from http://hilianadevila.com/ to help with getting me to the baby shower. I honestly thought I was going to a fashion show and when I walked in I was shocked to walk into my beautiful shower. My mother had a dress for me waiting, lol I know such a diva moment. The best part of my shower was just seeing my family and friends and of course finding out what I was having. The anxiety of not knowing the sex was killing me, so to finally know Im having a little girl, is just exciting and overwhelming. I'm 12 days away from my due date and so excited to meet my angel. Here are some pictures from my shower. Once again please go check out Pauline Saade's work and if you are in the tri-state area make sure to contact her and schedule a shoot or book her for your special event. I just want to also send a big thank you to my girls Benita, Sara, Jesse, Dali, Kelly and my Mother for making my Baby Shower one to remember  you have no idea how much I appreciated your hard work, love you all.
